Avatar: Way of the Water lands in cinemas on December 15 and is tipped to be one of the blockbuster cinema events of the year.
A follow-up to 2009 film Avatar it is a highly-anticipated film that the cinema industry is pinning hopes on.
The first Avatar film is the highest-grossing film of all time at the box office, raking in almost $3bn in worldwide ticket sales.
Avatar box office hopes
Reportedly one of the most expensive films ever made, with media reports in Hollywood suggesting it cost $350m to make, it will need a massive return at the box office to make back the money.
Hollywood is standing by to see how it will fare. Director James Cameron was behind the camera for two of the three highest-grossing films of all time (Avatar and Titanic) and analysts as well as critics are standing in line to critique performances.
Hollywood business analysts at Entertainment news source The Wrap say Avatar: Way of the Water will need to make around $2bn at the box office just to break even. That would put it in the realm of the top five highest-grossing films of all time.
