Travel rates are surging during the holiday season with residents looking to overseas destinations for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, Wego has revealed the most in-demand European destinations among UAE travellers with Moscow, London and Baku holding the top spots.

Here are the top European destinations for UAE travellers:

  • Paris
  • Yerevan
  • Milan
  • Sarajevo
  • Munich

According to Wego, the most popular events in these destinations revolved around holiday festivities and Christmas markets.

Topping the list is Moscow, the most searched for destination UAE travellers during the winter season. The city offers festive highlights such as the Journey to Christmas event, featuring shows, concerts, and workshops across Moscow.

Visitors can also explore the Christmas markets in Red Square or attend opera and ballet performances, including the seasonal favourite, The Nutcracker.

London remains a top choice for UAE travellers, offering iconic Christmas markets, ice skating, and classical concerts at St Mary Le Strand.

Baku draws visitors with its “Cold Hands, Warm Hearts” winter event at Fountain Square, featuring stalls, live music, and fireworks. Similarly, Tbilisi City captivates with Christmas markets at Orbeliani Square and festive villages in Dedaena Park.

Other destinations on the list include Prague and Vienna with festive celebrations across several spots in the cities.

Paris remains popular with Jardin des Tuileries Christmas Market, light displays at the Champs-Élysées, and Seine riverboat dining for New Year’s Eve.

The other European destinations on the list are also in-demand for festivities, fireworks, concerts, Christmas markets and more.

Last week, the UAE announced a public holiday for the private sector for New Year’s Day. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) made the announcement via social media.

The post read, “The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announces that Wednesday, 1 January 2025, will be New Year’s paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE. We wish you all a year filled with happiness and success!”

Work is set to resume on Thursday, January 2.
