Apple set an all-time revenue record from iPhone sales in India in the quarter ended September 2024, chief executive Tim Cook said.

Cook said the September quarter also saw Apple’s revenue from the iPhone growing in almost every geographic segment around the world, including the UAE.

The company said sales of its iPad are doing quite well in India, clocking double-digit growth in the period.

“iPhone grew in every geographic segment [of India], marking a new September quarter revenue record for the category,” Cook said during the company’s earnings call on Friday.

“And we continue to be excited by the enthusiasm we’re seeing in India, where we set an all-time revenue record,” he said.

During the call, Cook also said Apple will expand its retail presence in India.

He said the company is looking to open four new stores in India.

The company currently has two stores in India — Apple BKC in Mumbai and Apple Saket in New Delhi.

The four new stores are expected to come up in Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. Apple had last month revealed its expansion plans and now Cook has also confirmed them.

Regarding the company’s iPhone sales in Q3, 2024, Cook said: “We set September quarter segment revenue records in the Americas, Europe, and the rest of Asia Pacific, as well as in a large number of countries, including the United States, Brazil, Mexico, France, the UK, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.”

Apple posted a record revenue of $94.6 billion, which is up 6 per cent year over year.

Overall, the company’s revenue from products stood at $70 billion.

The revenue from iPhone alone was close to $46 billion, the company revealed in its quarterly results.
