IWILL, the American PC manufacturer, has unveiled its latest product offering for the small form factor market, the bare bone ZPC. The ZPC is a next generation mini P4 barebone PC that ships without processor, memory, CD-ROM and hard disk drive. It boasts a unique aluminium chassis and acrylic panel that is all housed in a ultra-slim box. For digital home and media centre demand, the ZPC features LAN, IEEE1394 and USB connections to provide complete external connectivity. Combining both aesthetics and performance, IWILL designed the ZPC to provide a stylish and delicate machine so that users could easily find the most suitable PC to today’s trend. IWILL claim to of “perfectly integrated IT and art” with the ZPC and although this might be stretching the imagination slightly, it does boast an aluminium case and streamline acrylic panel. The ultra-compact size makes the ZPC ideal for limited desk space in the classroom, home or office environments. To solve the thermal problem, which can occur in such a small chassis, ZPC features an advanced method of heat dissipation known as radiator cooling technology. The well-considered design makes use of heat disappeared directly from the bladed heat sink to the chassis.Based on the Intel 845GV chipset and ICH4, IWILL’s ZPC also supports the latest Intel Pentium 4 CPU. Advanced Intel Extreme Graphics and DDR266 also provide sufficient power for home/office applications. For external upgradability, the ZPC supports 4 USB ports (2 on the front panel and 2 on rear side) and 2 IEEE1394 ports. It’s also integrated with 10/100 Base-T Ethernet and audio controller. The 2.5-inch hard disk drive and slim-type CD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD-ROM/Combo saves a lot of space compared to the ones for current desktop PCs.ZPC predicts that the digital home of the future promises better connectivity between digital devices and it says the next generation ZPC will be integrated with wireless LAN and remote control. To be a truly multi-media console, the multi-card reader/writer and TV-out will also be added into ZPC in the future.
