Panasonic parent company Matsushita will invest US$2.3 billion in constructing the world’s largest plasma display panel manufacturing plant in Japan.
The company said it expected the plant to boast an annual production capacity of around 12 million units when it comes online in May, 2009.
Panasonic has established itself as one of the leading proponents of plasma display technology. It is aiming to capture more than 35% of the plasma TV market by 2010.
