New figures released by Dubai Statistics Centre reveal that three-quarters of the population of Dubai are male.

According to a report in Gulf News, the new statistics show that 75.77 percent of Dubai’s estimated population of 2.2 million are men, and 24.23 per cent are women. Two-thirds of Dubai’s population, which is expected to grow by five percent this year, is aged between 20-39, according to the statistics.

The centre’s report said the unbalanced structure of Dubai’s population could be attributed to the large proportion of foreign workers in the emirate, most of whom they say are working-age males who are not accompanied by family workers.
