From wholesale trading of palm branches to jamming and encryption equipment and wholesale trading of space resources – 126 new economic activities have been added to ‘Tajer Abu Dhabi’ (Abu Dhabi Trader)’s list of licences available.
Tajer Abu Dhabi allows micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain trade licences without the need to work from a physical location or having to pay rent on commercial space for three years.
At the completion of the first three years, these licence holders are required to have physical work premises as per the rules regulating their businesses and get the necessary approvals.
This was announced by the Abu Dhabi Business Centre (ADBC), which is part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED).
With the new 126 activities added, the total number of activities under the category rose from 30 at the time of launch in 2017, to 1200 at the present time. The activities under Tajer Abu Dhabi represent 29.5 percent of the total economic activities licenced and regulated by ADDED, which stood at 4062 activities as of end of 2021.
This new move reflects ADDED’s commitment to empowering and enabling entrepreneurs through means that facilitate ease of doing business and consequently enhance Abu Dhabi’s competitiveness and support its development.
Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, Executive Director of ADBC, said: “At ADDED, we champion MSMEs and startups as drivers of a vibrant, private sector-led economy. Expanding activities of Tajer Abu Dhabi should be viewed in this context as we strive to empower entrepreneurs to set up their businesses and thrive.
“We have noticed an increase in the number of Tajer Abu Dhabi applicants. As many as 7,106 new licences were issued under this category, representing 27.9 percent of new economic licences issued in the Emirate last year.

“New licences issued by Tajer Abu Dhabi in 2021 alone represented nearly 50 percent of all licences issued under it since the launch in 2017 indicating a positive response from entrepreneurs towards ADDED’s initiatives of expanding commercial activities.”
The Abu Dhabi Business centre (ADBC) was established in 2013 to provide an ideal business environment. ADBC allows investors and businessmen to obtain all approvals and services related to economic licencing in the Emirate.
