Qatar Airways has reportedly pushed back the official launch of its new ‘super-business class’ seats to March 2017.
Local media reported that the seats will no longer be introduced by the end of this year as scheduled, and instead will be postponed while the national carrier awaits late aircraft orders.
The new seats will feature sliding doors to convert business class seats into a suite-like cabin.
Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker has described the cabins as “first class at a business class fare”.
News website Inbusiness.ae said that the seats were to be incorporated into the design of newly-constructed aircraft, such as the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus 350.
However, delivery of the A350s have been delayed for several months.
