The Air Intelligence Unit of Airport Customs (AIU) received a tip and intercepted a family of three at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai who landed from a FlyDubai flight from Dubai.
The incident took place on November 2, a large sum of money was found hidden in the smugglers’ shoes, sarees and suitcases.
The family was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Smugglers arrested
Last month, authorities at Sharjah Police confiscated 216 kilograms of narcotics. Officers found 170 kilograms of hashish, 46 kilograms of crystal meth and 500 tablets of Captagon during the ‘Precious Hunt; operation.
The drugs, were smuggled through a seaport in the UAE, with plans to distribute it across the country.
