A AED260 million ($70.7 million) revamp of a Sharjah shopping mall is entering its final phase and will be home to the emirate’s largest VOX Cinema when completed.
City Centre Sharjah is 75 percent of the way towards completion, owner Majid Al Futtaim said and will feature new attractions including a 12-screen multiplex.
The mall will expand to include 30 new stores, many more F&B options and leisure activities, the company said in a statement. City Centre Sharjah will also be expanding the parking lot by adding 700 spaces.
Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, managing director for Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Shopping Malls (UAE, Bahrain & Oman), said: “The new City Centre Sharjah will merge world-class retail with the best entertainment options… City Centre Sharjah is going to become the new exciting community hub in the emirate, creating great moments for everyone, every day.”
New food and beverage outlets will include McDonald’s, Nando’s, Chili’s and the homegrown Indian restaurant chain Gazebo.
Among the 25 fashion and lifestyle brands extending their lines to the mall are Annabelle, the lingerie boutique Nayomi and Pakistani ladieswear label Khaadi. Other names include Carpisa, an Italian producer of premium luggage, perfume house Flormar and budget furniture store Home Box.
The redevelopment is part of ajid Al Futtaim’s planned AED30 billion investment in the UAE by 2026. As well as investing in existing assets, the company plans to open 10 malls, 28 cinemas and 40 Carrefour hypermarkets by late 2020.
