Dubai’s residential, commercial and entertainment district Business Bay has been ranked fifth in the 10 “coolest neighbourhoods to visit right now” list by leading travel guide Lonely Planet.
The multi-purpose area by key developer Dubai Properties came ahead of the likes of Sunset Park, New York City and Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.
Business Bay, which is situated on an extension of the Dubai Creek and comprises numerous skyscrapers, is meant to follow themes of major business districts such as New York’s Manhattan and Tokyo’s Ginza.
While it quickly became a hub for some of the biggest international corporations, it also gained traction for its innovative real estate and waterfront living.
Dubai Properties’ three significant projects Bay Avenue, Bay Square and Marasi Business Bay have helped contribute to the growth of the neighbourhood. Situated along the Dubai Water Canal, Marasi Business Bay is set to become one of Dubai’s main waterside landmarks.
Other destinations on the list included Borgo San Frediano in Florence and Seongsu-dong in Seoul, which ranked first and second respectively.
The Triangle in Lisbon and Vesterbro in Copenhagen came in third and fourth, while Kuala Lumpur’s Damansara Heights and New York City’s Sunset Park came in sixth and seventh place. Botafogo in Rio de Janeiro, Frelard in Seattle and Tooting in London completed the list.
