Egyptian mobile provider Mobinil has completed a significant cabling deployment at its new offices and data centre in the Nile City Tower.
The telco, which has around 6.9 million cellular customers, deployed 3,500 Cat 6 outlets and 100 fibre panels in the data centre, along with Level 3 security systems.
Swiss vendor R&M provided the cabling for the infrastructure project at the telco, with local partner ElSalam for Engineering Equipment (Quip) deploying the products.
“In line with Mobinil’s commitment to constantly provide the highest level of service to its customers, we always work with the most reliable and experienced partners in their respective fields, which is why we were proud to work with R&M,” said Iskander Shalaby, president and CEO of Mobinil.
Mobinil’s relocation project started in 2004, with the decision to relocate certain operations from Cairo to the Nile City development. It selected R&M to provide its infrastructure for the new offices.
In 2005, Mobinil chose the Swiss vendor again, to supply its data centre copper and fibre backbone.
“R&M was selected for its domain expertise and advanced cabling product portfolio, which include Level-3 security products that comply with our required high specifications,” said Kamal Kamel, data network and security manager at Mobinil.
“We are delighted to have been chosen by Mobinil as the structured cabling supplier for such an important project,” said Laurent Amestoy, regional general manager for R&M Middle East and Africa.
“We are confident that with R&M Enterprise Cabling in place at Mobinil offices and data centre, they will enjoy the rewards of scalable, reliable and proven network infrastructure for all their communication needs.”
