A passenger at Dubai International Airport was caught attempting to smuggle 880 grams of heroin into the country. The passenger was searched following suspicions by Dubai Customs inspectors.
The bust was announced by Dubai Customs, on Thursday.
Dubai Customs officials nab drug smuggler
The Asian passenger was caught at Terminal 2, upon being searched, it was discovered that the drugs were concealed in seven packages within the suitcase poles, shoe bottoms and laptop.
The Director of Passenger Operations Department, Ibrahim Kamali highlighted Dubai Customs’ commitment to thwarting smuggle attempts of illicit substances.
Dubai’s state-of-the-art inspection devices and smart monitoring systems that the inspectors have access to aids to the department’s efficiency and capacity in detecting these activities.
Al Kamali explained that the results are achieved using electric systems, skilled human resources and data analysis.
He further explained that Dubai Customs are always on the lookout for these attempts that impact the health of society, harm interests of companies and the national economy.
