Kuwait has announced dates for the upcoming Islamic New Year holiday.
The Centre for Government Communication published details of the Council of Ministers decision on holiday dates on social media.
Wednesday, July 19 will be a holiday to mark the Hijri New Year and the following day, Thursday, July 20 has been declared a day of rest.
Islamic New Year 2023 in Kuwait
With Friday and Saturday being a typical weekend in the country, it means ministries, agencies, institutions and Government departments will have a four-day weekend.
Work will resume on Sunday, July 23.
The Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year, marks the beginning of a new lunar year.
The first day of the Islamic year is observed by most Muslims on the first day of the month of Muharram.
