Expected dates for Eid Al Fitr in the UAE have been calculated following a statement by the Emirates Astronomy Society.
Emirates Astronomy Society chairman said this week that the Islamic month of Rabi Al Awwal was expected to begin on Saturday, September 16.
Following astronomical predictions, it is possible to forecast likely dates for Ramadan and also the Eid Al Fitr holidays in 2024.
Eid Al Fitr 2024 in the UAE
The start of the month of Rabi Al Awwal begins a six-month countdown to Ramadan in 2024.
In a statement, Al Jarwan said the new crescent moon would be born at 5.40am on Friday, September 15 and the first day of Rabi Al Awwal would be Saturday, September 16.
The astronomical predictions mean that:
- Ramadan 2024 will begin Monday, March 11
- Ramadan 2024 will end on Tuesday, April 9
- Eid Al Fitr 2024 will begin on Wednesday, April 10
Official dates for the start of the holy month will depend on the sighting of a crescent moon closer to the time. Eid Al Fitr will only be confirmed when a moon-sighting committee convene in the UAE and make an official declaration.
