Dubai experienced a sudden shift in weather on Saturday afternoon, as scattered rainfall and thunderstorms swept across the region.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in several areas.
Emirates Road, Dubai’s Al Marmoom area, Deira, Al Qudra, and Al Barari were among the areas affected, with showers also reaching Al Ain’s Al Hiyar and Al Shiwayb region.
The NCM’s statement outlined the possibility of convective cloud formation leading to varying intensities of rainfall, often accompanied by lightning and thunder, particularly over certain eastern, Al Ain, and south Al Ain areas, as well as extending over internal regions.
Skies across the UAE were forecasted to become partly cloudy to cloudy, prompting the NCM to issue yellow and orange alerts lasting until 8PM on Saturday due to the heightened cloud activity in both Dubai and Al Ain.
These conditions are expected to last until August 8.
The meteorological authority also predicted strong to moderate winds, ranging from 10 to 25 km/h and occasionally reaching speeds of up to 55 km/h.
Sea conditions were projected to remain relatively calm during this period.
