UAE schools to start summer break in early July, ministry confirms

Distance learning for students across the UAE may be extended into the next academic year.

UAE Ministry of Education confirmed that public and private schools in the country will start their summer break on July 2.

Teachers and staff will start their break a week later, on July 9, which is in keeping with the original dates announced earlier in the school year.

Schools have been operating distance learning for all students since March this year, a decision that was taken as part of preventive and precautionary measures aimed at containing the spread of the coronavirus.

Distance learning for students across the UAE may be extended into the next academic year, according to the Ministry of Education, which said recently that any decision surrounding the academic year 2020/2021, “is still under review” and will be taken “based on the health situation and precautionary measures”.
