Safi Qurashi’s Q inks deal to revive six stalled Dubai projects

Company behind the Great Britain island on The World Islands is hired by Empire Arabia to deliver residential, commercial projects

The company behind the Great Britain island on The World Islands, Dubai has said it has been hired to revive six projects which were halted during the global financial crisis.

Q Developments, headed by British property developer Safi Qurashi, has been appointed by Empire Arabia to manage and deliver six residential and commercial projects in Dubai, a statement said.

The projects, which were part of the former Best Homes development portfolio, have been taken over by Empire Arabia which has in turn signed an MOU with Q Developments.

Masood Pervez, vice chairman, Empire Arabia Group, said: “We are delighted to have formed a new working partnership with a company which shares our commitment to deliver these projects in a manner which is in the best interests of all the original investors.”

Safi Qurashi, CEO and founder of Q Group added: “We have already been in contact with investors here in the UAE and as far afield as Pakistan, Russia, India, the UK and Canada.

“All have expressed relief that the projects are being revived, as they feared the worst when work stalled during the financial crisis. Each are now being offered various options depending on their individual circumstances, and we’re working closely with Empire Arabia to deliver all the projects to the highest standards.”

The six developments include two in Sports City, where work has already reached the 7th floor on Global Golf Residences 2, while Q Developments is seeking a change of use for Rescom Tower, originally designed as a mixed-use scheme.

Two other residential projects are located in International City – Global Green Views 2, where work has reached the third floor, and Global Green Views 3.

Global Bay View, located in Business Bay, is currently designed as an office tower, but this is now subject to a change of use and redesign. The other project is a 19-storey residential tower in Jumeirah Village Triangle.

Q Developments’ work will incorporate project administration, sales, marketing and associated services, while Empire Arabia will manage the construction of the towers.

The first of the projects scheduled to be completed are Global Golf Residences 2 and Global Green Views 2, both in early 2016.
