Plans are in place to launch the south wing of Riyadh’s Faisaliah Hotel in September, making the five-star hotel the biggest in the Saudi capital.
The south wing is sited next to the Faisaliah Tower and includes 106 rooms and suites, plus a women-only spa and an Italian restaurant.
“The hotel will increase its capacity from 224 rooms to 330 rooms after the opening,” said Al Faisaliah’s managing director Peter Finamore, according to Arab News.
“This will be in addition to the women’s spa that is to be opened early next year if the project is given the green light by the government’s regulatory authorities.”
Al Faisaliah is operated by Texas-based Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. The firm also operates the Hotel Al Khozama in Riyadh and the Rosewood Corniche in Jeddah.
The Middle East, supported by Saudi Arabia, continues to lead the world in terms of revenue per available room (revPAR) in terms of June data, according to STR Global.
Rooms in the key port city of Jeddah stood at a steady $124.65 for the month, up from $114.25, while occupancy showed a small, two percent rise on the year, to 66.9 percent.
Earlier this month, the vice chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) said that the country’s tourism revenue was likely to reach $61.5bn this summer, with an overall four percent increase in tourism activity.
