Adearest has won a contract to construct the Ritaj District Cooling Plant in Dubai Investments Park (DIP). The contract awarded by Emirates District Cooling Company (Emicool) will involve the construction of a 50,000TR district cooling plant. Completion of the plant is scheduled for June 2008.
Adearest will also manage the construction of a second district cooling plant in DIP. The 75,000TR capacity plant will be constructed in three phases of 25,000TR and is scheduled for completion by August 2008.
Drake & Scull has won the contract to carry out reticulation works for both plants. This is due to start in 2007 and complete by March 2008.
The two plants will provide a combined total of 125,000TR for five mixed-use projects in DIP, including 10,000TR for Ritaj Residential Compound; 3,500TR for Dunes Village; 10,000TR for Dubai Lagoon; 6,500TR for offices and showrooms; and 15,000TR for labour accommodation.
Fouad Younan, Emicool general manager commentes: “The construction of two additional cooling plants in DIP will ensure a sufficient supply of chilled water that will meet the air conditioning needs of both residential and business communities in the Park.”
