Workboats continue to be popular in the region, with over 2,000 being docked or repaired in shipyards and dry docks annually. A good number are dive boats and tugs, but it is dredgers that make up the lion’s share, with around 30 new craft being launched each year around the Gulf, just to keep up with the unprecedented amount of offshore construction-related land reclamation work. In Dubai alone, dredgers have moved, or are in the process of moving, an astounding 1.75 billion cubic meters of sand and stone to form Dubai’s three iconic Palm projects and Nakheel’s The World.

The expo will highlight the role of the small boats and be a platform for manufacturers and dealers to show off their new craft and related accessories.
