Dubai’s Rashid School for Boys and Latifa School for Girls, two of the oldest schools in the city, are set to reopen in autumn 2024 after undergoing significant upgrades.
The schools will continue to offer single-gender education from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 13, with the girls and boys situated on the Latifa site and the Rashid site, respectively.
While both schools are located in Nad Al Sheba, the Latifa School was opened in 1982, offering students to learn from the British and Arabic and Islamic curricula approved by the UAE Ministry of Education.
Rashid School, was later established in 1986 as a secondary school until 2003, after which it it opened an elementary section.
The two institutions are two of the oldest and most prestigious schools in Dubai, and have several UAE leaders and public figures among their alums.

Dubai schools to operate under one banner ‘Rashid and Latifa School’
The Rashid and Latifa Schools Establishment (RSLE), responsible for both schools, announced that construction would begin in autumn this year, with the first batch of students expected to be welcomed in September 2024.
The schools were closed in 2020 for renovation. Under the new strategy announced by the schools’ establishment on Sunday, Rashid and Latifa will be integrated under a single umbrella, a joint-leadership structure, and a unified name, Rashid and Latifa School (RLS).
The school will be “a global center of excellence for sustainability in education,” Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Education and Chairman of Rashid and Latifa Schools Establishment’s Board of Trustees said.
The school will be an international leader in terms of design, materials, equipment, information technology infrastructure, and use of outdoor spaces for learning and inspiration,
Dubai’s RLS appoints British principal

RLS has appointed British national Emma Nolan as principal. With over 20 years of experience in the education industry, Nolan is also well-versed in setting up pioneering bilingual and multilingual schools in the UK, China, and the UAE.
“It will be a school not just renowned for its incredible academic profile but also for the exceptional contribution our students make to Dubai, to the UAE, and the rest of the world,” Nolan said.
The RLSE was formed in April last year with the aim of boosting the quality of education offered to Emiratis and residents and helping to prepare students for university abroad.
