Dubai is currently home to over 227 private schools with over 387,441 students enrolled across the city. The schools offer 17 curricula including IB, Indian, German, French and more.

Over 20 schools, with a Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB) rating of ‘outstanding’ are the most expensive schools in the emirate. The DSIB is a unit established by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), which is in charge of rating schools – from ‘Very Weak’ to ‘Outstanding.’

Dubai’s Education 33 Strategy

Last year, KHDA announced details regarding Education 33, a strategy aimed at establishing the city as a global top 10 city for learning. The strategy also aims to introduce over 50,00 school places, increase education tourism and attract international universities to the Emirate.

At the time of the announcement, Aisha Miran, Director General of KHDA said, “The new strategy aims to provide every student with a world-class education that meets the highest global standards. While rooted in Emirati values, E33 embraces the rich multiculturalism that defines our city, ensuring that both our heritage and diversity remain integral to the learning experience”.

The five strategic goals of E33 include:

  • Empowering Emirati students with high-quality education
  • Providing accessible and equitable education focused on the well-being of diverse learners
  • Engaging educators and parents to promote lifelong learning
  • Positioning Dubai as a world-class learning destination
  • Creating an ecosystem built on research and innovation to drive impact and growth

The ‘Game Changer’ initiatives include:

  • Projects that focus on embedding Emirati culture and values in the education community
  • Promoting Arabic as a language of choice
  • Creating a personalised education journey for all learners
  • Engaging educators and parents that nurture life-long learning
  • Positioning Dubai among the best places to teach
  • Growing the number of Emirati educators in private institutions
  • Elevating quality standards of training and vocational institutes
  • Empowering Emirati parents to guide their children’s education journey
