PCR testing and treatment health facilities will continue to operate and the five-days isolation period for those infected with COVID-19 will still be implemented said the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority.
It also confirmed that wearing masks will be optional in all open and closed facilities, including places of worship and mosques, except for health facilities and centres for people of determination, where it will be mandatory.
Changes to how the UAE will handle Covid-19 begin at 6am, on Monday November 7. The decisions are based on scientific study and after continued research says the NCEMA.
The first case of coronavirus in the UAE was detected on 29 January 2020, and the first two deaths confirmed on March 20 2020.
Less than a week later, on March 26, the UAE effectively shut its borders, suspending all inbound and outbound travel, and the first “lockdown” began a week later.
In September it was announced that the UAE would lift mask-wearing rules. Face mask rules had been in effect for more than two-and-a-half-years.
More than 195 million PCR tests have been conducted in the UAE so far.
