A recent survey conducted by CMC Hospital Dubai has revealed that the UAE has emerged as the top destination for healthcare among GCC residents, surpassing the US, Germany, the UK, and India.
The survey involved 1,680 GCC residents from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait, representing a cross-section of local, Arab expat, and Asian expat populations.
According to the survey, 29 percent of GCC residents have selected the UAE as the country with the strongest reputation for providing excellent healthcare, showcasing the growing prominence of the UAE’s medical infrastructure and expertise.
GCC residents prioritise access to quality healthcare, willing to travel abroad
The survey also found that 84 percent of GCC residents are willing to travel to access a medical provider, with 21 percent of residents from Saudi Arabia, 35 percent from Qatar, and 25 percent from Kuwait expressing a willingness to travel to another Middle Eastern country to seek healthcare.
Moreover, the survey revealed that 71 percent of GCC residents are willing to pay in cash to access treatment abroad when not covered by insurance, underscoring the demand for high-quality healthcare services in the region.
The survey also identified the top health concerns in the GCC, with gastroenterology, obesity, diabetes, and back and neck problems emerging as the most prevalent issues.
Obesity was found to be the highest concern in Saudi Arabia, while the other three issues were most prevalent in Kuwait.
