Dubai’s Radio 1 and Radio 2 were back on air on Wednesday after more than 12 hours off-air on Tuesday. However, the stations’ broadcaster, Gulf News Broadcasting, said it is still working to resolve technical difficulties.
Listeners reported on Tuesday that the stations were off-air, with some claiming an Abu Dhabi classical music station was playing instead.
It promoted concerns that the stations would close entirely, however listeners have since been assured that any interruption is temporary.
Gulf News Broadcasting said in a statement on Wednesday: “Gulf News Broadcasting apologises for any inconvenience caused due to the interrupted service to Radio 1 and Radio 2 stations.
“This is due to a transmission issue which we anticipate will be resolved shortly.”
Gulf News Broadcasting is part of GN Media, publisher of one of the UAE’s English language newspapers, Gulf News.
