Chevrolet’s electric Bolt to go on sale in Gulf ‘within a year’

US car maker says Bolt EV can achieve more than 500 kilometres of range on a single charge

US car maker Chevrolet announced on Tuesday that is electric offering, the Bolt, will go on sale in selected Gulf markets within a year.

Showcased on day one of the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show, the Chevrolet Bolt EV is one of the most affordable and practical long-range electric vehicles on the market, the company said.

It said the Chevrolet Bolt EV can achieve more than 500 kilometres of range on a single charge, with the ability to store 150 kilometres worth of range in just a 30-minute charge.

“The Chevrolet Bolt EV is a ground-breaking vehicle that will shape the way Chevrolet moves into the future,” said Alan Batey, president, GM North America and Global Chevrolet Brand Chief during the press conference.

Mario A Spangenberg, president and managing director at General Motors Africa and Middle East said: “Dubai’s pioneering Green Mobility Initiative targets are bold, and we look to be equally bold and make Chevrolet a reliable partner, with the Chevrolet Bolt EV forming the backbone of these fleets. We aim to support both retail and fleet customers in their quest to achieve zero emissions mobility as soon as possible.”
