Majid Al Futtaim has revealed plans for its upcoming Mirdif City Centre mall in the city to be ecologically friendly, from the design phase through to the construction stages.
The Centre will adopt Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards, a rating system developed by the US Green Building Council as the methodology to measure sustainability.
In its effort to achieve the rating, the project has to comply with LEED protocols, in terms of design tactics and in the construction phase, for sustainable procedures of waste management, recycling and material selection.
“Mirdif City Centre is our flagship pilot scheme aiming to implement the LEED procedures and protocols. We have appointed Green Technologies, as specialist LEED consultants for the project and they are helping us in directing the design and building teams through the various stages,” said Shahram Shamsaee, senior VP, Majid Al Futtaim Shopping Malls.
