Sharjah-based Trend Industries to expand production capacity with a new facility at Hamriyah Free Zone

The company also plans to foray into new sectors such as automobiles and oil and gas industry, besides the existing construction and manufacturing industries

Hamriyah Free Zone

Trend Industries FZC, the Sharjah-based metal construction company, has announced plans to invest AED25 million for construction of a new production facility in the Hamriyah Free Zone.

The proposed expansion will scale up the company’s production capacity from 3,600 tonnes per year to 8,400 tonnes per year, further strengthening Sharjah’s position as a leader in steel fabrication, the company said in a statement.

Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) and Trend Industries have signed a lease and partnership agreement for the proposed new facility.

The agreement, signed by Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of HFZA and Neeraj K Sharma, CEO of Trend Industries, envisages the steel fabrication company taking on lease 323,000 square feet of land to build its new factory.

Al Mazrouei also toured Trend Industries’ existing facility, comprising a comprehensive suite of fabrication and manufacturing services.

Besides a wide range of structures such as heavy structure fabrication and installation, chiller plant skids and silos, the facility also produces chemical skid fabrication, piping systems, crane and escalator beams, flatbed and container trailers, crane-mounted trailers for cargo bodies and blocks, tipper/water/diesel tank trailers, cesspit tanks, and frame trailers.

The production plant was founded in 2006 and employs some 134 personnel, including technicians.

Al Mazrouei said HFZA would continue to promote investments in heavy industries, including steel fabrication, by offering a welcoming business environment and cutting-edge infrastructure that perfectly suits these industries and meets their needs.

He added that HFZA’s deep water port and inner harbour facilitate importing and exporting goods and raw materials.

“More businesses are either growing in the free zone or basing their operations there,” Al Mazrouei said.

This was due to the effectiveness of our sophisticated systems, which guarantee the flow of raw materials regularly and enable manufacturing facilities to run at full capacity, as well as the integrated logistical services that we provide, linking manufacturers with more than 3.5 billion customers around the world, he said.

Neeraj Sharma said that HFZA has significantly supported the company in accelerating its growth and achieving its vision of becoming a leading manufacturing company in the Middle East by expanding 3M’s – Men, Material, and Machinery.

“With the new facility, we look forward to expanding our customer base, accessing new markets in Africa, the US, Europe, and India,” Sharma said.

He said the company also planned to foray into new sectors such as automobiles and oil and gas industry, besides the industries which it currently specialising in such as construction and manufacturing industry.
