Pre-ordering for the Apple iPhone XR – a cheaper version of the iPhone XS with a 6.1-inch LCD screen and multiple colour options – is now available.
The phone, which costs AED3,180 (US$750), has a single rear camera that distinguishes it from the XS, which came out last month and has dual rear cameras.
It retains the key advances of the first iPhone X – facial recognition and an edge-to-edge display – but is cheaper while being noticeably larger at 6.1 inches. Apple used older LCD screen technology and aluminum, rather than stainless steel, edges.
The iPhone Xr is expected be the main driver of Apple volume, with 100 million units sold in the next 12 months, according to Neil Shah, an analyst at Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
“It’s a great upgrade product in the traditional iPhone price range for the two year-old iPhone or Android users,” he added on Twitter, predicting a “runaway hit.”
The XR does, however, come in six colours: white, black, blue, coral, and yellow, plus a Product (RED) edition.
You can pre-order the iPhone XR here—AED3,179 for 64GB, AED3,389 for 128GB, and AED3,809 for 256GB. It is available to purchase direct on October 26.
