All-in-one system unveiled by HP

HP has introduced an all-in-one storage system for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) aimed at reducing the cost and complexity of their storage environments.

HP has introduced an all-in-one storage system for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) aimed at reducing the cost and complexity of their storage environments.

The HP StorageWorks 1200 All-in-One Storage System (HP AiO1200) is the fourth product the vendor has released this year designed specifically for the SMB market, and is designed for generalists with little IT expertise.

The AiO1200 comes with HP’s All-in-One Storage Manager software that now includes setup and migration wizard support for Microsoft Exchange 2007.

The vendor said the wizard allowed customers to move from direct attached to network attached storage in fewer than ten mouse clicks.

All-in-One Storage Manager can also now provision iSCSI storage for servers running both the 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003. HP said this gave administrators the flexibility to mix and drive technologies to meet storage needs of individual applications.

The AiO1200 is available with 12 drive bays and up to 9Tbytes of capacity and features Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 and the Microsoft iSCSI Software Target.

“HP carefully thought out the AiO1200 to provide the specific features and capabilities that make it easy for SMB users to implement and manage a storage network,” said Tony Asaro, Enterprise Strategy Group senior analyst.
