Jarir Bookstore has been named by Symantec as its ‘top consumer partner of the year’ in Saudi Arabia. Jarir and Symantec run the ‘PC Attach’ programme in which Symantec’s Norton Internet Security software is bundled with PCs sold in Jarir’s 19 showrooms across the Kingdom.
“We can say that Jarir Bookstore currently accounts for 40% of our consumer sales in Saudi Arabia, and have grown this aspect of their business by 120% in 2006,” revealed Sanjiv Vij, regional manager for consumer sales at Symantec.
Meanwhile, international supermarket chain Carrefour has scooped the equivalent award for the UAE market.
“There is a high level of commitment and creativity in the marketing teams at both store chains, and they are instrumental in increasing visibility of the brand and driving user acceptance,” concluded Vij.
A recent internet security threat report published by Symantec revealed that 93% of all attacks are still targeted at the home user segment.
