Dubai World Central International Airport (JXB) continued its international marketing campaign by exhibiting at the 13th World Route Development Forum 2007 in Sweden.
Set to become the world’s largest hub, JXB hailed its appearance at the event a success, attracting interest from executives from some of the world’s biggest airlines.
“With airports now considered a vital part of the route development process, the Routes event was a key annual opportunity for JXB to market its potential to the global aviation community. Global network carriers and regional operators, as well as cargo and charter airlines were a key target audience due to the new airport’s regional significance as a business hub,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Aviation Corporation – Dubai World Central.
“Many airlines have already expressed their intention in establishing their regional base at JXB and Routes enabled us to make further inroads in drawing the attention of new airlines. The event also offered us an ideal opportunity to review the performance of airlines’ established services, stimulating joint ideas with them to increase revenue and reduce costs,” he added.
JXB’s first CAT III, A-380 enabled 4.5 kilometre runway is scheduled for completion by end-September this year, followed by a period of rigorous testing before first cargo flights take off by mid of 2008.
