Emirates has cancelled all flights to and from the Dusseldorf airport in Germany due to announced strikes on February 27. Workers have gone on strike to demand better pay.

“Affected customers who have booked with travel agents should contact them for alternative travel arrangements. Customers who have booked directly with Emirates may contact their local office for rebooking options,” read the official Emirates announcement.

The strike has supposedly been initiated by Verdi and Komba, two trade unions in Germany.

Earlier this month, Arabian Business reported that Etihad will add more direct flights from Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt as it expands its UAE-Germany service. Flights are scheduled to be added from May 1.

The extra flights underline the carrier’s commitment to the important German market and comes after it announced the start of flights to Düsseldorf from October 1.
