The UAE will study the possibility of building a major new road to connect emirates and reduce congestion, the Federal National Council heard.
A question was raised at a Federal National Council meeting on Wednesday, January 24 about congestion on federal roads linking Dubai to Northern Emirates.
In response, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure said the UAE would study proposals for a new road to help reduce congestion.

He said proposals to establish a new road would be studied and that the construction of any new road would require approval of the local emirates as well as comprehensive studies.
He added that the upcoming rail routes would also have a significant impact on reducing congestion.
It was reported that engineering studies have already been undertaken to identify solutions to alleviate congestion and artificial intelligence was used to monitor traffic on roads in the United Arab Emirates to identify causes of traffic congestion and peak times.
