“A breath of Paris preserves the soul,” declared Victor Hugo and the city of romance ranks as one of the world’s top travel destinations, luring those who have come to expect the ‘wow’ factor. They won’t be disappointed when they visit the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome.

Why chose the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome?

Ideally located on Rue de la Paix, a few steps from the Place Vendome, Park Hyatt Paris – Vendome, is in the heart of the City of Lights. The Louvre Museum and the Opera House are within short walking distance as are Paris’ most famous luxury shops on Rue du Faubourg St Honore and the Tuileries Garden. With interiors designed by Ed Tuttle, the hotel offers a stunning series of sights and experiences.

Design features we love?

The hotel combines classic Parisian style with Ed Tuttle’s imaginative flair. He is one of America’s most renowned architects and although he has done residential projects for couturier Kenzo Takada and painter Brice Marden, he is perhaps best known for his work with the Amanresorts in Thailand. His aim for the hotel was “to build a palace, a really new luxury hotel” using the basic elements of the building to accentuate beautiful furniture, luxurious fabrics and design.

The main structure of the hotel is in fact five different buildings from the Hausmanian period and they have been transformed into a single unit with symmetrical spaces, high ceilings, a series of colonnades as well as open and covered courtyards all of which reinforce the hotel’s quiet palatial character.

The sleek, sensual interiors incorporate natural substances such as sandy French limestone and classical mahogany. Perhaps the most striking interior design element is the use of contemporary artwork and sculpture which were specially curated by renowned gallerist Darthea Speyer.

Jaune de Chrome’s Christian Lepage, whose clientele includes top chefs and celebrities such as Alain Ducasse and Sharon Stone was selected to supply all of the hotel’s china and it is this scrupulous attention to detail is what makes the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome experience unlike any other.

What’s so special about the art then?

The paintings and sculptures contribute greatly to the overall energy flowing through Ed Tuttle’s architectural composition and each has been selected to correspond to the mood of its location.

For instance, the soft hues of Lightning on Higgins Pond – an imposing diptych by Sideo Fromboluti enhances the serene ambience of the main entrance. Other international contemporary masters include Ed Paschke, Sam Gillaim and Roseline Granet who has been refered to as the Rodin of our century.

Her large bronze sculpture entitled Le Grand Couple en Marche boldly welcomes guests as they enter the foyer and she has also been commissioned to craft bronze door handles, lamps and other fixtures in public spaces and bedrooms.
How are the suites and guestrooms decorated?

Understated simplicity is Tuttle’s design ethos and the suites have all been decorated in simple, neutral tones with exquisite artistic elements such as Jim Thompson fabrics which have been custom designed and found throughout the hotel.

All rooms have Bang&Olufsen entertainment systems, satellite television and high-speed Internet access. Bathrooms feature sliding mahogany floor-to-ceiling ‘disappearing doors’ while classical French limestone complements matte bronze fixtures that have been specially commissioned.

Heated floors, deep-soaking tubs and stone-enclosed rain showers with sinks for in-shower shaving give the guest the feeling of bathing in a private water wonderland.

The two-storey Presidential Suite is worth a special mention and is located on the sixth floor and opens onto an ultra luxurious haven featuring two fireplaces, stone staircases, parquet floors and three small terraces.

What about the dining experiences?

Les Orchidees is the restaurant lounge which lies at the heart of the hotel and buzzes from dawn to dusk upholding the city’s age old tradition of entertaining late.

Le Pur Grill is open exclusively for dinner and features a dramatic six-metre wine wall which serves not only as the hotel’s wine cellar but also as a cigar and cheese cabinet.

Both restaurants set the scene for creations by Executive chef Jean Francois Roquette who has worked in the famous kitchens of Taillevant and Les Muses.

In the height of summer however La Terrasse is the perfect venue for business lunches and dinners and actress Carole Bouquet is an exceptional ambassador for this spot and she currently produces an olive oil at her home in Sicily which is exclusive to the hotel.

Fashionistas will love the dessert ‘Non Coupable’ (Not Guilty) which is made with no fat and no added sugar prepared with pineapple and green papaya marmalade and served with panacotta, yoghurt and green tea jelly. Delicious!
