Air Arabia, the largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, has announced the expansion of its services to Kiev, Ukraine.
From April 1, Air Arabia will offer daily flights to Ukraine’s capital city from its hub in Sharjah, the airline said in a statement.
Air Arabia currently operates five direct flights per week between Sharjah and Kiev.
AK Nizar, head of Commercial Department, Air Arabia, said: “As cultural and economic ties between the Ukraine and UAE continue to strengthen, we have seen an appeal for low cost travel options between the two countries.
“By flying daily between Sharjah and Kiev, Air Arabia is giving business and leisure customers even more flexibility in how they choose to travel.”
A city of three million people, Kiev is an important centre of commerce, culture and education.
Since beginning flights between the UAE and Ukraine in October 2008, the route has seen significant growth in demand by business and leisure travellers, Air Arabia added.
The Ukraine expansion follows Air Arabia’s announcement last week that it was to launch daily flights to Nairobi in Kenya. The airline will offer daily flights from April 7.
Air Arabia flies to over 65 destinations spreading across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Europe and operates from three hubs in UAE, Morocco and Egypt.
