Several hotels, restaurants and bars across Dubai have announced the reduction of alcohol prices following the announcement of the removal of 30 percent tax. Atlantis The Palm and newly opened, Atlantis The Royal have joined the list with a reduction of approximately 22 percent, Arabian Business’ sister publication, Caterer Middle East reported.

The scrapping of alcohol tax came into effect on January 1, impacting not only visitors and residents but the hospitality industry as well.

“As it is all over the news, guests will be fully aware of it, and it will greatly benefit them, with “hopefully” lower prices for them. This will be great for residents and even better for visitors,” Nicolas Budzynski, Global Operations Director at LPM Restaurants and Bar, previously told Arabian Business.

Combined, Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal have over 40 restaurants and bars. Price reductions will be applied across all venues.

Drinks including wine, beer and spirits will see a reduction of at least AED10. Serving volumes for certain beverages are also expected to increase.

A beer for instance will be reduced from AED55 to AED45. A glass of wine will cost AED35 as compared to AED45 previously, and will also see a volume increase of 38ml, as reported by Caterer.

The scrapping of alcohol tax has been announced on a trial basis for one year until December 31, 2023. Additionally, the fee to obtain an alcohol license has also been removed.

The price reduction due to the removal of tax is also reflected across official alcohol sellers in Dubai – African + Eastern and Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI).

“Following the announcement by the Government of Dubai to remove the 30 percent municipality tax on sales of alcoholic beverages, we are pleased to announce that this will be reflected across all alcoholic beverage products in all our 21 MMI stores in Dubai, effective 1st January,” said Tyrone Reid, Group CEO of Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) & Emirates Leisure Retail.
