VOIC 2008 details announced

The eagerly-awaited details of the 2008 Vacation Ownership Investment Conference (VOIC) were announced this month.

The eagerly-awaited details of the 2008 Vacation Ownership Investment Conference (VOIC) were announced this month.

More than 150 main players in the region’s fast-growing timeshare and fractional ownership sector will meet at the industry’s foremost networking event, to be held in March next year.

Speakers are to include senior executives from some of the world’s largest hospitality companies, including Hyatt, Marriott and Starwood, as well as several regional independent developers of vacation ownership projects.

Recent research by Dubai Government showed that by 2012, approximately 20% of the anticipated 15 million annual tourists will choose accommodation alternatives to traditional hotel rooms, with many expected to favour timeshare options.

Currently, the Middle Eastern region accounts for less than 5% of the world’s vacation ownership developments.

Organisers said VOIC 2008 would be “action-packed”, focusing on the fundamentals of the industry as well as its potential for developers, hotel companies, consumers and local economies.

The conference, supported by Interval International, an American provider of exchange, travel, and leisure services to resort developers and vacationers worldwide, will be held at the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai.
