ND SATCOM expands ME operations with Glocom stake

ND SatCom, an SES ASTRA company, has acquired a stake in Glocom, a Dubai-based system integrator and equipment supplier for turnkey digital broadcasting solutions.

ND SatCom, an SES ASTRA company, has acquired a stake in Glocom, a Dubai-based system integrator and equipment supplier for turnkey digital broadcasting solutions. Zahid Mirza, founder and President of Glocom, remains co-shareholder and will continue in his position as CEO.

Fifteen percent of ND SatCom's revenues today come from the Middle East and Africa region. Dr. Karl Classen, president & CEO of ND SatCom, described the investment as an excellent opportunity to strengthen ND SatCom's broadcast & media business in the Middle East and Africa.

"Glocom is an established player in the UAE and has implemented a large number of turnkey broadcasting solutions for major broadcasters in the Middle East and Africa," he said. "The acquisition allows us to expand our local system integration skills along our value chain in the digital broadcasting and uplink domains and adds a competitive capability for SES in this region."
