Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Monday at the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
The two leaders discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and further afield, noting the importance of strengthening Arab solidarity in the face of common challenges, UAE state news agency WAM reported.
“Egypt is a cornerstone of Arab security and its pivotal role and efforts are well appreciated,” Sheikh Mohamed said, adding that the UAE was keen to maintain open channels of cooperation and promote stability, security, and peace in the region.
Sheikh Mohamed went on to thank the Egyptian President for the hospitality and reception that he received during his visit.
President El-Sisi expressed the pride he felt in the relations between the UAE and Egypt, along with the joint action that the two countries have taken while facing regional challenges. The President likewise noted the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries.
Both leaders reaffirmed a common vision shared by their respective countries and stressed the need for additional UAE-Egyptian cooperation and coordination, WAM reported.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Vice, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince.
Major General Abbas Kamel, Chief of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, Major General Ahmed Ali, Chief of the President’s Office, and Presidential Spokesperson, Bassam Rady also attended the meeting.
