Saudi Arabia organises global event to promote organic food sector in the country

Over 15 countries, 25 specialized companies, and 50 brands focused on organic food are participating in the three-day event

A major global event to promote the organic food sector was opened in the Saudi capital Riyadh, expected to attract global investments in promoting and marketing investments in agriculture and organic products in the country.

More than 15 countries, 25 specialised companies, and 50 brands focusing on organic food are participating in the event – BioFach 2023.

The 3-day meet is organised by the Saudi International Agriculture and Organic Products Exhibition, and is sponsored by the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.

The organisers said the event is expected to be an attraction point for major investors, distributors, suppliers and solution providers in the organic products industry around the world.

It is also aimed at helping those who are interested in learning about international experiences in organic agriculture and also the latest technologies in this field.

Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture Affairs at the Saudi ministry, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Khatib, said the ministry’s sponsorship of the exhibition is to support the organic products sector, which is witnessing significant development in the Kingdom.

He said organic agriculture in Saudi Arabia registered significant growth in 2022, with total organically cultivated area reaching 23,315 hectares.

The number of organic farms in the country reached 512 farms, producing a total of 95,298 tonnes last year.

The exhibition includes displays of more than 50 brands of Saudi and international companies and agencies in the organic agriculture sector.

It also holds specialised workshops in the field of marketing, investment, research, innovation, risk management, and inspection mechanisms in organic agriculture.
