The UAE climbed one place to become the second largest recipient of new foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in 2023, according to a new report released by the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), WAM said in a statement.
The World Investment Report 2024, published today, shows the UAE received 1,323 greenfield investment projects last year, an increase of 33 percent compared to 2022. Only the United States attracted more greenfield FDI announcements.
The Emirates’ successful rise up the rankings comes as total FDI inflows grew by 35 percent year-on-year to $30.688 billion.
While FDI outflows from the country also decreased slightly compared to 2022, standing at $22.328 billion, the overall stock of outbound FDI grew to $262.208 billion.
