Etihad and Emirates among the top 10 ranked from total of 230 carriers around the world
Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways and Dubai’s Emirates Airline have been listed among the top rated airlines in the world, according to a new global list.
The latest rankings were released by Airlineratings.com, which rates and monitors over 230 carrier around the world.
As part of its Airline Excellence Awards, Air New Zealand was crowned the best rated airline for the third consecutive year for its continuous passenger innovations, environmental commitment, record-breaking financial performance, operational safety and motivation of its staff.
The airline was also awarded Best Premium Economy Class and Best Economy Class.
“Air New Zealand’s focus on its staff has resulted in outstanding performance right across the airline at every touch point,” said AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas. “Put simply Air New Zealand remains the industry leader and a textbook case of what an airline should be in today’s intensely competitive market.”
Australian carrier Qantas, Emirates’ strategic partner, was rated second on the list, followed by Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways. Emirates was rated sixth on the list.
The Best First Class award went to Etihad Airways, which the judges said “has shaken the industry” with the Residences by Etihad concept on its A380 offering a private, three-room suite including a living room, double bedroom, en-suite shower room and a butler trained at the Savoy Hotel.
“Etihad’s commitment to excellence appears to know no bounds. The airline’s new First Class and Business Class offerings are quite stunning and have set the bar even higher in luxury travel,” said Thomas. “In what is an incredible achievement in just over 12 years Etihad Airways has stamped itself not only as a major force in the airline industry but a trendsetter.”
Best Business Class was awarded to Singapore Airlines, while Best Lounges award went to Qantas.
Best Catering also went to Qantas, while Singapore Airlines won Best In-Flight Entertainment.
Best Cabin Crew was won by Virgin Atlantic for the second year running, with the website claiming the airline’s crew “treat every passenger whether in row 1 or 31 as a special guest.”
In terms of long-haul, Etihad was rated best in the Middle East and Africa, Cathay Pacific Airways in Asia/Pacific, Lufthansa in Europe and Delta Air Lines in the Americas. For all the latest transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
