Air Arabia Abu Dhabi's first flights will be to Egypt Alexandria and Sohag in Egypt
UAE's new low-cost carrier Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will launch its operations on next week with flights to Egypt.
The first flight will take-off from Abu Dhabi to Alexandria on July 14 followed by flights to Sohag the next day
The new airline - a joint-venture between Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways and Sharjah's Air Arabia - will start operations with two Airbus A320 aircraft from its hub at Abu Dhabi International airport, and will follow the business model of Air Arabia.
"This joint venture between Etihad and Air Arabia will offer greater convenience and direct access to the UAE’s thriving capital for new markets worldwide, beginning with two key Egyptian routes, and expanding in time," said Tony Douglas, CEO, Etihad Aviation Group.
Adel Al Ali, group CEO, Air Arabia, said: “Egypt is a key travel market and the launch of the first flights reflects our focus on supporting commercial and trade ties between both nations while providing our customers with a new value-for-money option to travel between both countries.
He added: “We look forward to expanding Air Arabia Abu Dhabi destination network as more airports open up and flights resume.”
Flights to Alexandria’s Borg Al Arab International airport (HBE) will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays departing Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) at 15:00 local time and arriving in Alexandria at 16:55 local time. The return flights will depart Alexandria at 17:35 local time, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 23:25 local time.
Flights to Sohag International airport (HMB) will depart Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) every Wednesday at 14:20 local time arriving in Sohag at 16:00 local time. The return flight departs Sohag at 16:40 local time arriving in Abu Dhabi the at 22:10 local time.
