HRH Prince Alwaleed’s Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) is one of the world’s largest and most diversified private investment companies, with holdings in a large number of Saudi Arabian, Middle Eastern and international companies.In particular, KHC is one of the world’s leading hotel investors, with a portfolio of hotels and majority interests in international hotel management companies.
The international portfolio includes stakes in Citigroup, The Walt Disney company, PepsiCo and London’s Savoy Hotel.
Regionally, its portfolio includes Kingdom Hotel Investments, Samba Financial Group and Savola.
Shares in KHC have lost around 65 percent of their value in the last year but Prince Alwaleed still managed to top the Arabian Business rich list in December last year, with a $17.1bn fortune.
Last month he told Forbes that he is not planning on selling his stake in Citigroup, in which KHC is the largest individual investor.
The company has also denied media reports that its Kingdom Tower project in Jeddah has been shelved due to the current economic climate. The tower is slated to become the world’s tallest at more than 1km.
