Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of its third property in Lebanon, the Four Points Le Verdun, on December 1. Owned by Hotelier Verdun 5000 SAL, the Four Points Le Verdun will be operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts under a management agreement, and is the hotel company’s second property in the capital, Beirut.
The newly built 13-storey hotel offers 132 rooms, including 22 suites, a French-fusion cuisine restaurant, lobby bar, roof-top heated pool with a bar, health club, massage, business services, an executive boardroom and two meeting rooms.
“We are very proud with our partnership with Hotelier Verdun, owners of the hotel, which has allowed us to expand our presence in Lebanon. The new Four Points Le Verdun is our third hotel in Lebanon, which further reflects our commitment to the development of the fast growing hospitality sector in Lebanon,” says Roeland Vos, president of the Europe Africa and Middle East division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
The property is located close to Starwood’s other Beirut hotel, the Sheraton Coral Beach Hotel and Resort Verdun. As a mid-scale property, the Four Points will complement the accommodation offering of its five-star sister property.
“The Sheraton property is a beach resort, so its clients are mainly vacationers, while we are attracting mainly business travellers,” explains the hotel’s sales and marketing manager, Jad Shamsedine. “Starwood customers now have two options when considering Beirut, and that was definitely part of the plan for opening a Four Points here,” he adds.
“The Four Points brand is a mid-priced brand, but for this property the standards and facilities are definitely five star. We are not rated officially as a five star resort, but we will be competing with the Rotana, Safir, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza properties in the city,” Shamsedine told Hotelier Middle East.
Located in Verdun, close to Beirut International Airport and the city centre, the new Four Points Le Verdun will target the business market, with leisure travellers expected in the summer months. The hotel’s guestrooms offer panoramic views of the city, the sea and the mountains while providing a workspace with two telephones, data port, and high-speed internet access.
As a member of the Four Points family, the hotel offers the services and amenities of the Four Points brand, including in-room coffee/tea maker, high speed internet, wireless internet connections in public areas, swimming pool and health club, and 24-hour room service.
Launched in 1995, Four Points has grown to 136 properties in 17 countries, including Lebanon, Kuwait and the UAE.
