HP has vision for home cinema market

As part of its bid to increase its market share of the region’s projector market, HP has launched a range of models targeted at the home cinema enthusiast.

As part of its bid to increase its market share of the region’s projector market, HP has launched a range of models targeted at the home cinema enthusiast as well as adding to its business model line-up.

To justify its targeting of the home cinema market, HP executives claimed at the launch event in Dubai this week that “projectors aren’t always projectors”. Or rather, that projectors designed for business use aren’t always the best for watching your favourite film on. “A business projector has to make PowerPoint presentations look good,” said Thomas Valjak, category manager, Imaging and Printing Group, HP Middle East. “A home projector has to make movies look good.”

As well as the HP Home Cinema Digital Projector ep7100 series, HP is also launching a model, the ep 9012, which comes with a DVD player built-in and a 2.1 sound system. “Instead of going through the hassle of setting up your speakers, getting cabling set up and so on and so on, you can just get it out of the box and go,” said Valjak.

Business users aren’t being neglected however, with HP also launching a mobile model, the mp3222, which weighs in at just 1.7kgs. “Its for the business user who wants to travel around and needs a projector that is portable enough to carry and can still be used in the office,” said Valjak.
