Dubai Police emergency response time slashed to 2 minutes 20 seconds

The city’s police force recorded an average response time of 2.34 minutes to extreme emergencies last year

Dubai Police has announced a recorded average response time of 2.34 minutes (2 minutes 20 seconds) to extreme emergencies in 2021, the emergency number (999) received over 5.3 million calls during the same period.

The statistics were revealed during the Operations Department’s annual inspection conducted by Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandant-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs.

Out of the 5,384,317 calls received on the emergency hotline, 99.6 percent were answered within 10 seconds, a rise from 99 percent from the previous year.

The targeted response time was six minutes and Dubai Police achieved an average response time of 2.34 minutes.

Statistics revealed of the (901) non-emergency call centre showed that 675,287 calls were received, a drop from 701,569 calls from the year before.

A briefing also took place of the force’s AI-enabled projects, including the AI-Operations room which integrates artificial technologies into various operations.

The conclusion of the meeting called upon staff to fulfil their job requirements promptly and also urged the public to recognise and understand the difference between the non-emergency (901) and emergency hotline (999).
