Dubai has issued safety tips to help prevent damage and alleviate danger during rains and storms.
The Dubai Municipality shared safety guidelines on social media and encouraged the public to report emergencies directly to authorities.
The advice for residents and homeowners includes tips on balcony safety and correct drainage.
Stay safe in Dubai rains
In a message on social media, the Municipality said: “For your safety during rain and changing weather in Dubai, follow our safety guidelines and adhere to various measures to expedite rainwater drainage and reduce resulting gatherings”.
Specific safety tips include:
- Secure electrical connections indoors
- Clean internal rain gutters in the house or building
- Use designated rainwater drains to drain rainwater collections
- Avoid opening and using sewage drains to drain rain water
- Fasten outdoor furniture securely and clear flying materials inside the house or building
- Remove tools and equipment from balconies
- Stay away from trees, unstable boards and construction sites
The municipality told people in the Emirate to report emergencies on 800 900 or via WhatsApp.
